Top 5 News and Magazines Apps on Android in Brazil, Q3 2022

The third quarter of 2022 saw significant activity in the News and Magazines category on the Android platform in Brazil. Here, we explore the performance of the top 5 apps in this category, based on data from Sensor Tower.

Opera News: breaking & local maintained a strong presence with weekly downloads starting at around 123K and gradually decreasing to approximately 84.8K by the end of September. The app also saw a slight fluctuation in weekly active users, starting at around 494K, peaking at 501K in mid-August, and closing the quarter at roughly 474K.

Local News - Latest & Smart experienced varied download numbers, beginning the quarter with around 34.7K and seeing a notable dip to about 9.2K in mid-September before ending the quarter at 15.6K. Weekly active users showed a similar trend, starting at 153K, peaking at 178K in early August, and finishing at approximately 149K.

G1 Portal de Notícias da Globo witnessed a significant increase in downloads, starting at 8.4K at the beginning of the quarter and skyrocketing to about 155K by the end of September.
